Photographer Gracie Stendl tries the Profoto D30 in our studio!

For our hands on first look with the Profoto D30 , we brought in Gracie Stendl, a vibrant force in contemporary photography. Gracie's work brings a bold and colorful lens to her work, focusing on people, portraits, and the rich tapestry of Sydney’s subcultures. Known for her dynamic collaborations with musicians, artists, and creatives, Gracie captures stories that celebrate individuality and creativity. Whether exploring the rhythm of dance or blending photographic formats to create striking visuals, her work is a celebration of self-expression.

We tested the new Profoto D30, it transformed how she approached her studio shoot. Known for her artistry and petite stature, Gracie often finds heavy, complicated gear to be a challenge. The D30’s lightweight design, intuitive setup, and flawless performance made her rethink her entire lighting system. “I loved the simplicity and the form factor,” she shared. “It never missed a beat, and I’m seriously considering switching to the system after this shoot.”

During her session, Gracie explored three different lighting setups with the D30 and was amazed at how adaptable it was. She also tested Profoto’s new quick-release softboxes, praising how effortless they were to assemble. The rubber-grip attachment system for light modifiers proved another game-changer, providing a faster, more secure connection compared to traditional twist-and-lock mounts. “It’s so intuitive—it’s one less thing to wrestle with during a shoot,” Gracie said.

The Profoto D30 is a compact, mains-powered monolight built for versatility. With its bi-color LED modeling light, photographers can easily match ambient light temperatures or use it as a continuous light source for video. Its 11 f-stops flash range ensures it adapts to any scenario, whether you’re shooting portraits, fashion, or product photography, in the studio or on location.

Equipped with ECO, Boost, and Freeze modes, the D30 gives you full control over power, consistency, and motion blur elimination. Combined with AirX connectivity, which allows remote control via a camera or app, and a design that supports even larger light modifiers, the D30 delivers professional-grade performance in every setting.
