Fujifilm GF 80mm F1.7 R WR Lens

Adding to the existing 11 Fujinon GF lenses, the GF80mm F1.7 R WR lens is a welcome addition for any portrait photographer. This lens hails as the world's first F1.7 interchangeable lens with Autofocus designed for a Large Format system making it the fastest prime in Fujifilm's lineup and a lens many of our team want to shoot with! In terms of size, the weight is bearable for a medium format lens. At 795g you can expect that this won't be a hindrance when hand-holding - especially for those long shoots. The front of the lens adopts a 77mm filter plus there's a lens hood to match.

Fujifilm GF80mm F1.7 R WR Lens Construction

The construction of the lens comprises 12 lens elements in nine groups. Within the mix of glass, you'll find one aspherical element and two Super ED elements. The benefit of these inclusions ensures their minimal spherical aberration while maintaining quality bokeh. So if you have used the GF110mm previously, you can expect a better result on this new lens.

GF80mm F1.7 Autofocus

Autofocus is driven by a powerful DC motor to ensure all of the six lens groups work in unison to deliver fast, accurate focus. For professionals working out in the field, Fujifilm has you covered when using this lens. There are weather-resistant seals in ten locations on the lens to ensure dust and water don't enter the lens. And like the GFX100S, the lens is rated to temperatures as low as -10°C making it a perfect pairing for commercial work out in the field.

We are very excited about both these GFX releases. As professional photographers ourselves, we strive to understand every piece of equipment. We like to put it to the test in our reviews and compare each camera and lens against its predecessor. In the case of the GFX100S, we applaud Fujifilm on breaking the 100 Megapixel barrier while keeping the camera affordable for Australian professional photographers. Ensure you pre-order the Fujifilm GFX100S and GF80mmF1.7 R WR lens as the first shipment will sell quickly.
